The objective for my senior thesis project at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design Spring 2024, was to write and illustrate an entire children’s picture book. The book was inspired by the folklore and traditions of Japanese culture with the story following a young girl named Yuna, who moves to rural Japan and has to start at a new school. Yuna is worried about this change and gets help from Yokai to boost her self-confidence.
