Creature Design

The objective of this project, completed in Autumn 2022, was to create a creature based on randomly drawn attributes. This creature design, named Figgle, was a creature that had to be able to glide, secreted a certain substance, and had to be able to self-amputate a part of themselves. Figgle also had to be a pack creature.

Beast Battle

At the end of the project, the objective was to showcase a battle between our creature and another student’s, in its habitat.

Final Creature Design

For the final creature design and spread the creature that was made secreted venom through his mouth, “knees” and toes that could be injected through its claws. The design also included a fur-like back that could be quilled to also puncture and inject venom. The underbelly of Figgle is hard like a shell for protection, due to his ability to glide with a thin membrane that connects to his head from his knee. The membrane that allows gliding also gets destroyed easily so Figgle is able to amputate it and regrow it good as new for repeated use.

Tight Sketches

Two main designs were made to move forward with. Because there could only be one both designs were combined. In addition, final details of the body and how it would overall look were added as well.

Initial and Rough Sketches

For the design of the creature the first thing that came to mind was raptors and more dinosaur-like creatures, so the focus was making a creature that was bi-peddle.
